Gainsborough, Lincolnshire

Gainsborough in Lincolnshire is nowhere near the coast, or the route of the Spanish Armada, but it does have links with Henry VIII at the Old Hall, and, possibly other places as well. As yours truly was brought up in Gainsborough, she thought she would include it here. The town has changed dramatically over the years, especially with the advent of Marshall’s yard. We are not sure if the owners were relatives or not. More research required.

It is a sleepy little rural town, typical of others around it, but the family still has strong links, and some of them live there. Also in Blyton 5 miles away. Lincoln is a great place to visit, but the Travelodge in Gainsborough is not recommended. More later, and hopefully someone will provide a nice picture, although Gainsborough is mentioned in this book.

Thank goodness for West Lindsey District Council.
