Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival

Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival – we were joined one year by Rob Gibson SNP who was a great supporter of the Walking Festival.

The Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival was launched in 2004 under the banner of the Caithness and Sutherland Outdoor Activities Group. The NHS were involved under the health walks, and the group grew, except that the chairperson put pressure on the author, so she resigned and the Festival was moved to be managed by the Dunnet Head Educational Trust. The event was great, we even got accolades from Rob Gibson, MSP.

We have published a book “The number of walkers coming to the Northern Highlands since the inception of the development of the walking product has increased by 80%”. “Creating the North Highland Way : A Route to NetZero” – out now!

This was the forerunner to the North Highland Way.
