Mexico

One would wonder what Mexico has to do with the North Highland Way. This is another example of the traveller’s log, and ability to develop the North Highland Way as an experienced walker. I travelled all over Mexico on the train and bus, and walked for miles in the mountains around Chihuahua in the north western part of the country.

It was February 1998, and it started off well with a thorough search of my luggage at London Gatwick Airport. I should not have said that the backpack was Brian’s… I had never seen so much security, even in Libya where, if they felt like, would search all six suitcases thoroughly, and then expect you to put everything back in two seconds flat. This log will be complete one day… probably in my dotage, some people say I am in it now! Well, back to the North Highland Way.

Why Mexico? Well it’s Hispanic of course! One day there might be a study of the environment there, as there was of Cuba in our Green Academy. There is also a Spanish Academy.
